MENSWEAR
MW101: Beginners &
Intermediate- Introduction to Menswear Construction
This course introduces first time sewing students who
haven’t sewn in awhile, to the many processes involved in creating a garment.
Professional standards of construction are emphasized throughout the course as
students learn cutting, pattern layout, how to take proper measurements and
construction of classic menswear.
Special machine methods and technical aspects of seam
finish and detail are studied. Students will be
taught fundamental sewing skills; sewing machine operation, machine stitching,
hemming, sewing buttons, buttonholes, and coordinating pattern w/ fabric &
notions.
Basic standards of construction are stressed and practiced,
enabling the student to make a finished garment. Students will
practice machine stitching on fabrics…
Once the course is completed students will possess the basic knowledge of
constructing a garment from beginning to end.

MW301:
Intermediate II – Menswear Tailored
Construction
Students learn how to layout,
cut, sew all of the details associated with the classically tailored trouser.
Special emphasis is given to the fly, tailored pockets, and waistband. Details
specific to the jacket and appropriate finishes for a high-end tailored garment
are covered throughout the course. Students

MW401:
Fashion Designer Studies Menswear/ Womenwear
This course is for fashion
designers and those who have the talent (but no formal training).
The course studies, collection development, patternmaking, draping, fabric&
textiles, technique, and construction. If you’re
currently, creating a collection or want to create a collection, working on
samples or need clarity about your design concepts then this course is for you.
Students research, sketch and design a collection, inspired by their original
design. Original designs can be tested in muslin, constructed in fabrics, and
analyzed in terms of taste, fabric selection and properties, design principles,
and fashion interest.
Students learn about the importance of the market,
branding, trends, and the structure of the design house.
Students are encouraged to create, inquiry, and grow as a designer.
Designers will leave this course with a better
understanding of creating a collection, along with the knowledge of how to
process what’s in their heads, to pattern, to fabric, to garment.
